Who were the five great knights?
The five great knights in Hollow Knight were an elite group of warriors who served the Pale King during the height of Hallownest's golden age. These legendary knights represented the pinnacle of martial prowess and loyalty in the ancient bug kingdom.
The Five Great Knights
Dryya
Dryya was the personal bodyguard and protector of the White Lady, the Pale King's queen. She wielded incredible strength and dedication, remaining by the White Lady's side even after Hallownest's fall. Players can find her corpse in the Queen's Gardens, still guarding her charge in death.
Isma
Isma served as one of the Pale King's most trusted knights and was known for her unwavering loyalty. After her death, she became the source of Isma's Tear, a powerful acid that players can use to traverse certain areas. Her grove in the Royal Waterways serves as her final resting place.
Ogrim (The Dung Defender)
The most boisterous and enthusiastic of the five, Ogrim continues to defend the royal waterways long after Hallownest's collapse. Unlike his fallen comrades, he remains alive and maintains his cheerful disposition, though he's been driven somewhat mad by isolation and grief.
Ze'mer (The Grey Mourner)
Ze'mer was an outsider who earned her place among the great knights through exceptional skill. She fell in love with a knight from the Traitor Lord's clan, creating a tragic romance that players explore through the delicate flower quest.
Hegemol
The most mysterious of the five knights, Hegemol was known for his massive size and heavy armor. His fate remains largely unknown, though his armor was stolen and used as a disguise by one of the Pale King's vessels.
Each knight's story adds depth to Hallownest's rich history and demonstrates the tragic cost of the kingdom's downfall. Their individual tales of loyalty, love, and sacrifice provide some of the game's most compelling narrative moments.
